And then there was one.....

I am sure you have all been dying to know what has become of our beloved Chicks.

Well, about a month ago we woke up to one crowing at 5:30 in the morning. (and yes, our neighbor was knocking on our door in her bathrobe as soon as she heard the noise) So it turned out our little chickie was actually a rooster, so off he went to the local farm store.
Then the next morning we woke up to another one crowing at 5:30 a.m. and that one turned out to be a rooster so off he went to the local farm store.
Then the other morning on our way out the door to church, I noticed a bunch of chicken feathers scattered across our lawn. I just knew one of our hens had been taken in the night by an animal. And sure enough, when we checked there was only one there. Then later that night, some friends of ours stopped by and said they saw the funniest thing on their walk. A random chicken walking down the street! We were like, "that's our chicken!" And sure enough, it turned out to be our Flo. So now our chickens have gone to stay at a friends house until we can figure out what to do with them. They keep escaping our yard and I don't want them to get hurt.

Those chickens are in hostile territory! Did any PETA reps stop by the house yet?

I love the chicken going down the street though. That is classic.

Thanks for helping me to decide NOT to get chickens.

Sara, you blog descirbes Grandma Benton incarnate!! I was chuckling your chicken story description when my mind raced back to my 5 yr old experience of watching her on her knees wailing at the loss of her carefully nurtured Easter chicks which had been illegally harbored in our backyard rental residence. Those renegade neighborhood dogs had been waiting for her to fatten up their feast!
