Our Chickies

The other day I saw that baby chicks were for sale on craigslist....so I went and bought four!

Meet Shadow, Flo, Smokey, and Sunny. All I have to do now is build a coop for these guys in the backyard and we will be all set.......

What was I thinking????

p.s. please don't tell our neighbor.....for some reason I think she might not like the idea...

that's exactly what i thought: what is the crazy neighbor going to do?

her head may explode, to be sure.

also, i have to wonder over the evolution of this-- did you EVER want chicks? or was it just because you saw it on craigslist... which made you want chicks?

and are you planning on selling the eggs on craigslist?

you crack me up. pun intended.

I was having a hard time as I read that. I kept thinking by the end of it I'd see that you were just kidding! I can not believe you bought four chicks for your own little chickens. That's just plain crazy. But I'm sure you're kids will remember it forever. Besides, if it all goes hay wire, don't tell the kids, but a fresh chicken dinner could be delicious!

Oh they are soooo cute! 1 for each child to take care of, right? You are one brave mom to take on pets on top of kids.

Re your neighbor, have her call me if the birds are bugging her.

hahaha!!!1 that is pretty awesome Sara.

Good luck. Who cares what the neighbor thinks, if she asks about them just tell her you are waiting for them to get a bit older before getting a rooster. :)

I like Brooke's comment! Was it that it was a great deal on Craiglist? Or were you searching for chickens? Either way, it is very fun and useful to have eggs everyday. Maybe you should open your own cupcake shop. Eggs are a major ingredient in cupcakes. (Can you tell I'm on a diet...thinking about cupcakes) Anyway, Brooke would have to move to Northern California if you opened a cupcake shop.

We took our kids to the pet store the other day and Avery says, "mom I want to buy a pet." She just said it so matter of fact. Since we are in a pet store lets buy a pet. I can't do it! My kids would love ANY sort of animal. I just can't commit to it yet. Good for you. I need to be a nicer mom. I'll have to call you to see how it is going in a week or two.

that would be reason number 101 why i'd want to move to northern cal.

So we had some friends over the other night and they were browsing youtube and found a video about miniature pigs...Aimee and Kara (the other wife) started freaking out and all we heard about was how much they wanted pigs. Is there some strange desire i was previously unaware of? To go and buy random animals and raise them as pets? Just wondering...

Seriously, this is so funny to me! Keep us updated on what happens with these little chicks. Where are you keeping them?
