What do you do when you have 20 minutes before church interviews and 4 kids who need your attention?
You jump on the trampoline with them in your suit!
A few months ago a family in the ward gave us a gopher snake they found on their property. The kids were SO EXCITED!
They played with him everyday, until it pooped on Will. That is when George the snake was fun no more.
Monday night for Family Home Evening we decided to let George free.
We took him to the hills behind our house.
Before we set George free, I asked each of the kids what their favorite memory was of him.
Will said, “ the first day we got him” .
Benny said, “the day he pooped on Will”.
Hannah said, “the time he almost escaped from his cage and Chloe grabbed him while screaming”'.
Avril said, “the day we let him go”.
Goodbye George! Thanks for making life exciting for a day!
To tie setting George free it into a Family Home Evening lesson, Ray tied the kids hands and feet like they were in bondage. We talked about some of the things in life that can keep us in '”chains”.
The object lesson kind of backfired. They had a little too much fun in bondage!
The other night we were invited to a friends house for dinner. It was a dinner of MY dreams. There was fresh tomatoes from the garden, with olive oil drizzled over them. Then fat slices of mozzarella lay in between. Butternut squash soup made of fresh squash from the local farmers market. The main ingredient: Heavy Cream I was in heaven………Ray not so much.
It was a beautifully set table outside for us to dine at. While I was washing my hands in the kitchen, I saw the host serve Ray a large cup of the squash soup. We made eye contact through the window. We both smiled a knowing smile that he doesn’t like the soup. When I came back out to sit down, the host got up to get more delicious food from inside. I quickly reached over to Ray’s cup of soup and poured it in mine. He then put a spoon in the empty cup. He winked at me, then the host reappeared.
We help each other out like that. It wasn’t easy, but I ate every bit of that creamy, delicious soup for Ray.
So my little break from blogging lasted about two years. I am so ready to start back up again! Soooooooo much to tell, so very, very little time to tell it. I will try my best!
Whew, one post done! These few sentences only took me a few hours to complete! haha
