A Little Catching Up

I will start with our Thanksgiving weekend

We started the food fest with cinnamon rolls. Needless to say, we were stuffed before Thanksgiving dinner even started!

Next we had the First Annual Henderson Family Wii Fit Turkey Bowl
We competed in five different events Do I even need to say who won??
Then, we got the kids all cleaned up

And we were ready to eat


Did I mention that we just ordered our dinner from Safeway this year? (Sorry Mom and Dad! I better not even mention the paper plates. I don't think my dad could take it!)

A fun time was had by all none the less!

The More the Merrier Right?

It all started with this toy dog. Hannah wanted it for Christmas mainly because of a LAME commercial with the happy girl and her "pet" dog. What the commercial neglected to show was

We just knew that if we shelled out 175 bucks for this dog, it would break in about three days because of someone trying to ride it, or take a bath with it.

But it got us thinking...........what if we pulled off a HUGE surprise and got the kids one of these

That's right. A REAL cat!
So Ray and I went to the pound about two weeks before Christmas and picked up this sly guy.


The workers at the pound said that it would be better if we got two of them so that they can play together. (I am sure there was no ulterior motive in that comment) Either way we were suckered and also picked up this little gal.

The cats stayed a secret all the way up until Christmas day!

The kids just LOVE them

We can't wait to see all the wonderful lessons our kids will learn from being pet owners.

Where have I been?

So things got a little crazy lately and my blog has suffered for it....

We have just been letting it all hang out..

Hmmm, maybe this is where the stomach flu came from?

So much to tell....where do I start?

How about this, a post a day Monday through Friday all January. (I love how I act like their are people out there biting their nails waiting for the next post to appear, when really this is all to help soothe my blogging guilt!)

Regardless of the reason, I am doing it!

The Pied Piper

Every year Ray brings his guitars, banjo, and mandolins into the kids classes.

(I swear Avril was right behind me when I was taking this picture, but now I can see where she got ink all over her face from)

He teaches them a little bit about each instrument.

Then they all rock out to the kids requests.

The word has gotten out about Ray and his musical talent. The principal of the school has requested that he do an assembly! This kind of makes us laugh because an assembly when I was growing up was a HUGE deal. And whoever was holding the assembly was just plain AWESOME. It makes me smile to think that is how Ray is viewed through these children's eyes.

To My Little Helpers

Thank you Avril and Will, for being so thoughtful in helping me keep the house clean for potential buyers coming to look at our house. Will, the extra touch you gave the house by throwing all the shoes we own all over the place, just before we walked out the door was genius. And the way you thoroughly spray the toilet and wall with pee is amazing.

Avril, you have such a great eye for the details. Like the way you spread ashes from our wood stove all over the floor and chaise lounge to give the room extra flare really touched my heart. You always seem to know when someone is coming the way you give your room that "stinky diaper" smell 10 minutes before they arrive. Just breathtaking. (literally)
