The Outing

Hannah's school recently had a family skate night at a local roller rink. I thought it would be a fun family outing.

I was a little wrong in my assumptions.

It went really well, up until the kids actually had to skate. Basically Will and Benny both freaked out. Benny was able to make it to the wall, but Will refused to try and skate by flailing his arms around, kicking and screaming! While Ray was trying to get Will off of the roller rink, Will tripped him. Ray is pumping his skates under him as hard as he can, trying not to fall for literally 30 seconds. But alas, Will tripped him again and they both toppled over. It seems like everyone is staring at us saying, "Why are you here with all of those kids?"

When Ray got up, I knew I was toast.

And for the record Ray, you were totally right!

The Chocolate Chip

The other day we made some treats with lots of chocolate chips in them. Will was being very sneaky and kept finding ways to get up on the counter to snatch a bite or two before getting caught. So, later on that afternoon it was no surprise to me to see a chocolate chip in the carpet. I reached down and picked it up. As I am walking down the hallway I glance at it again. It looks kind of funny. Not so chocolate chip like now that I am looking at it. Then it finally registers. This is no chocolate chip at all, but a perfect poop pellet! GROSS!

That little prankster! Now my hand is going to stink for a week!

YA................KICK IT!

Is there a certain song that when it comes on the radio you revert back to High School?

Mine is any Beastie Boys song. The other day my Senior class song "Fight for your Right to Party" came on the radio while I was carting my 4 kids around town. Suddenly, I am back in my red Cabriolet driving down LaCanada Blvd with my friends from High School.

I turn the radio up louder

I recline the seat back and stretch one arm out over the steering wheel and kind of slump back into my seat

I am singing to my hearts content, I know every word. One hand pounding on the steering wheel, and with the other I am air pumping my fist in the air.

My speed limit has increased at least 15 mph.

Then something snaps me out of it

I see my4 year old in the rear view mirror, pumping his fist in the air saying PAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRTTYYYYYYYYY!

I am suddenly 30 year old Sara again, mother of 4. As I slow my speed down, and bring my chair to a safer distance from the steering wheel I think, "What an inappropriate Senior Class song".

But what an awesome Senior year it was!

Avril's Blessing

What a fun week it has been!

Both sets of grandparents flew in for Avril's blessing which made for some fun times!

Ray's mom made Avril's blessing gown. GORGEOUS!

Hannah helped Granny get Avril ready.

And of course I have to mention the food. It always plays a key role in the Benton/Henderson get togethers. Pina Coladas, carnitas, pies, guac, dips, chips, etc. Believe me, I am still recovering!

(mine was a virgin pina colada. I swear!)
